In this letter, ALI encourages the Department of Education to prioritize research and evidence-building in career pathways and workforce readiness, urging investments that identify and scale effective practices, strengthen data use across agencies, and advance innovation to better prepare students for the workforce.

In October 2025, ALI submitted a letter providing input on Secretary McMahon’s Supplemental Priority and Definitions on Career Pathways and Workforce Readiness. In the letter, ALI recommends that the Department of Education strengthen its career pathways and workforce readiness priorities by investing in research and development to identify, evaluate, and scale effective approaches. ALI emphasized the need to build evidence on what works, connect federal efforts across agencies, and ensure that programs are grounded in data and evidence-based practices.
