“Fortifying America’s Future: Pathways for Competitiveness” explores how the U.S. can address critical workforce shortages in emerging technologies by strengthening education systems. The report outlines the urgent need for education systems to prepare students for high-demand industries such as AI, quantum computing, and biotechnology. It presents recommendations for fostering career pathways in K-12 education, leveraging national security priorities, and supporting innovative funding to bridge gaps between education and workforce needs. The paper also highlights successful state and local strategies and proposes the creation of a Technical Assistance Center and an ARPA-ED to scale these efforts and address critical workforce challenges.

ALI RFI Response: National Strategic Plan for Advanced Manufacturing

In November 2025, ALI submitted a letter providing input on the National Strategic Plan for Advanced Manufacturing. In the letter, ALI  recommends that the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), on behalf of the Subcommittee on Advanced Manufacturing of the National Science and Technology Council, support the scaling of education innovations aligned with advanced manufacturing workforce and industry-driven needs through strategic public-private partnerships and federal cross-agency coordination and leadership.
