To date, ALI has convened five task forces to identify actionable solutions for strengthening education R&D:
- State and Local Infrastructure Task Force
- Inclusive R&D Task Force
- HBCUs/MSIs/TCUs Task Force
- Knowledge Mobilization Task Force
- Future of Education R&D Task Force
Drawing together diverse leaders from across the education ecosystem – including practitioners, researchers, funders, and policymakers – these task forces explored pressing challenges and opportunities in education R&D. Three of the task forces have produced comprehensive briefs outlining specific recommendations for building a more effective R&D infrastructure that better serves students and educators. The fourth task force, focused on knowledge mobilization, commenced its work in 2025 to develop federal policy recommendations for improving how education research evidence is produced, shared, and used to benefit schools and communities. The most recent task force is reimagining the future of education R&D in response to sweeping changes at the federal level.
