This July 2024 letter to Senators Bennet and Cornyn, signed by over 70 leading education organizations, expresses support for the New Essential Education Discoveries (NEED) Act. The letter outlines how the Act would establish NCADE, a DARPA-like R&D center at IES, and upgrade state longitudinal data systems to better track student outcomes. The signatories emphasize the urgency of strengthening education R&D given recent NAEP score declines.
