Timothy Michalak

Director of Strategic Policy Initiatives

Timothy Michalak is the Director of Strategic Policy Initiatives at the Alliance for Learning Innovation (ALI).

Timothy began his professional journey as an educator, teaching 8th and 9th grade history in Fitchburg, Massachusetts after completing his undergraduate teacher preparation program at Fitchburg State University. During this formative period, he also helped lead Upward Bound, a Federal TRIO program designed to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

At the Federation of American Scientists (FAS), Timothy served as Associate Director of the Talent Hub, where he expanded the Impact Fellowship to include over 100 fellows, with twenty fellows supporting federal education research and development initiatives across government. His policy experience includes work on Capitol Hill as part of the policy team in the Office of House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn and a Policy Apprenticeship at the Partnership for Public Service focused on tech talent in the federal government.

Timothy holds a Master of Public Affairs degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT Austin and a bachelor's degree in history and education from Fitchburg State University.
