This memo offers actionable recommendations for federal policymakers to strengthen the education R&D pipeline by improving how evidence-based innovations move from research into widespread classroom use, ensuring that proven solutions are scaled, sustained, and effectively reach students and educators.
ALI’s Blueprint in Action Memos are part of an implementation series diving deeper into the recommendations outlined in the Blueprint for the Future of the Federal Role in K-12 Education Research and Development (R&D). Developed in collaboration with InnovateEDU, the Learning Systems Leadership Network, and a task force of over 150 stakeholders in the field, the blueprint and corresponding report respond to federal changes impacting education R&D.
This memo, by Edward Metz and Eric Tucker, supports the first function outlined in the blueprint: “Investing in research and innovation.” To ensure that more evidence-based innovations move from research into practice, research must be accompanied by intentional structures that help bring these innovations to scale.
